Conscientious criminals pay heed to privacy laws.

written by Mark Wheadon

There’s a warning printed just above the card slot on our local ATM:

ATM warningNow I’m familiar with the use of CCTV for detection purposes, but for crime?

It seems the local mafia are taking the trouble to warn us they’re grabbing card information. How thoughtful!

Law abiding criminals. Whatever next — responsible bankers?

Yes. It seems that “for … purposes” is bureaucratic code language for “This is unjust but here’s a lame excuse”, the sign-language equivalent of the spoken “I don’t mean to insult you but…”

Please only give justifications for things that are unjust…

‘Bonus’ Bob Diamond came out of his recent grilling by British MPs well enough… but along with a whole load of other bankers I think he’s still going to be measured for an orange jumpsuit in the near future – and not a moment too soon!
